El Dr. Valent\u00ed Fuster, director general del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC), director del Instituto Cardiovascular y Physician-in-Chief del Mount Sinai Medical Center, imparti\u00f3 la lecci\u00f3n inaugural en el acto de apertura del curso acad\u00e9mico 2022-2023 que tuvo lugar el 6 de octubre en el Aula Magna de UIC Barcelona .<\/strong><\/p>\n

El Dr. Albert Balaguer, decano de la Facultad de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud, fue el encargado de presentar al Dr. Valent\u00ed Fuster, que en 2010 fue investido doctor honoris causa en la misma Aula Magna, cuya laudatio en su d\u00eda fue a cargo del mismo Dr. Balaguer. Cardi\u00f3logo de prestigio internacional, Fuster es reconocido tanto por las aportaciones cient\u00edficas en este \u00e1mbito como por la preocupaci\u00f3n que muestra por la salud de la poblaci\u00f3n en general y, en particular, por la prevenci\u00f3n del riesgo cardiovascular. El doctor honoris causa por UIC Barcelona imparti\u00f3 una lecci\u00f3n magistral did\u00e1ctica y amena titulada \u201cHealth, Technology and Humanism\u201d.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Durante la lecci\u00f3n, Fuster afirm\u00f3 que la enfermedad cardiovascular \u201ccomienza con 15 o 20 a\u00f1os\u201d, aunque no se detecte hasta una edad m\u00e1s avanzada. Apel\u00f3 a la prevenci\u00f3n, recordando los factores de riesgo de la enfermedad cardiovascular: la obesidad, la hipertensi\u00f3n, el colesterol, el tabaco, el sedentarismo, una mala alimentaci\u00f3n o problemas del sue\u00f1o. Sin embargo, el reconocido cardi\u00f3logo admiti\u00f3 que la gen\u00e9tica tambi\u00e9n juega un papel importante, ya que \u201cuna persona puede no tener mucho colesterol, cuidarse y que los mecanismos de defensa no funcionen por mutaciones gen\u00e9ticas\u201d. Tambi\u00e9n record\u00f3 que los factores de riesgo provocan \u201cuna disminuci\u00f3n del flujo de sangre en el cerebro\u201d, sobre todo a partir de los sesenta a\u00f1os, por lo que pueden causar enfermedades como la demencia senil.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Para evitar todo este tipo de patolog\u00edas, el director del CNIC, que trabaja en diferentes proyectos sobre salud infantil en escuelas de los Estados Unidos, apuesta por educar a los m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os en la importancia de seguir unos buenos h\u00e1bitos sostenidos en el tiempo. \u201cLo que ense\u00f1amos a los ni\u00f1os de tres a seis a\u00f1os penetra en el cerebro y les sale a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde, por lo que cuanto antes se empiece, mejor\u201d,<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Valent\u00ed Fuster hizo una sesi\u00f3n magistral en la que habl\u00f3 de humanismo, y de la relaci\u00f3n que se establece entre ciencia y tecnolog\u00eda. . En su intervenci\u00f3n, el doctor honoris causa por UIC Barcelona se refiri\u00f3 al papel de la tecnolog\u00eda en la medicina actual y abog\u00f3 por alcanzar un punto medio entre nuevas tecnolog\u00edas y humanismo. El especialista en enfermedades cardiovasculares recomend\u00f3 a los futuros m\u00e9dicos que, aunque la tecnolog\u00eda sea una prioridad para ellos, no olviden \u201ctransmitir empat\u00eda a los pacientes y sus familias\u201d. \u201cHay que pensar en el enfermo mediante aspectos que no son tecnol\u00f3gicos y saber relacionarse con un paciente y su familia\u201d, afirm\u00f3. En esta l\u00ednea, lament\u00f3 que la tecnolog\u00eda est\u00e1, en muchos casos, \u201cobturando\u201d a la gente joven y la creatividad \u201cse est\u00e1 viendo afectada por esta tecnolog\u00eda constante\u201d. Fuster felicit\u00f3 a UIC Barcelona por sus 25 a\u00f1os, y de la Universidad destac\u00f3 la \u201cpersonalizaci\u00f3n\u201d en el trato con el alumno, el hecho de poner en el centro a la persona.
