Relive the most special moments of this commemorative year, in the words of its protagonists.

Sara Eltokhy is a PHD student through the RMIT European Doctoral Innovators (REDI) Programme, funded through the European Union’s Marie Curie COFUND Grant Programme. The project is led by RMIT Europe, the European hub of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University) and coordinated by UIC Barcelona School of Architecture professor Dr. Carmen Mendoza-Arroyo.

On International Women’s Day, Cases Singulars organised a conference at UIC Barcelona: “Women artists paint unique women.” The current edition looked at the artistic careers of four pioneering women of the late nineteenth century: actress Sarah Bernhardt, writer Dolors Monserdà, dancer Loïe Fuller and modernist painter Lluïsa Vidal.

To mark International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11 February, the exhibition ‘Women and Science’ was held on both UIC Barcelona campuses until 8 March to commemorate and recognise the careers of all the women of our university who have contributed to advances in science and technology.

True to its ideology, UIC Barcelona remains firm its commitment to equal opportunities and the principle of non-discrimination. With this in mind, the Equality Office aims to ensure the improvement of the working conditions of all the workers that make up this institution.

In our university, the presence of women is above the university average. For example, there is gender parity on the Board of Governors and faculty boards of the University. As for research, almost 70% of European projects are led by women, and 40% of the institutes and research centres of the University are led by women.

Any reference to the Faculty of Dentistry must also include the University Clinic of Dentistry (CUO), an essential part in the comprehensive training of future dentists.
