The world belongs to those who believe and who make things happen This was what Jordi Cervós believed: researcher, professor and vice-rector of the Freie Universität Berlin, who, after 40 years in Germany, left everything to return to Barcelona and run a new university. Cervós, and all who followed him, believed in a project that would welcome thousands of students each year. It finally opened its doors on 6 October 1997. Since then, many more have believed in it, convinced that educating people today is the way to transform tomorrow’s society.

This is how the institutional video opens. It was screened at the inauguration of the 25th anniversary celebration of UIC Barcelona, held on 6 October 2022 in the Aula Magna of the University.

The video, directed by producer Arturo Méndiz, lecturer of Communication Sciences, tells how the promoters of the university believed in a project that was made a reality thanks to their efforts, dedication and passion They believed in the project above all because they believed in a university “that is committed to striving for excellence”.

The video illustrates the character and features that differentiate UIC Barcelona. “A university closely linked to the professional world, which encourages students to take on new challenges in their work and accompanies them in their education throughout their lives. That seeks to anticipate the real needs of the world and encourages research into areas with social impact. It is inspired by a Christian humanism that motivates every activity. And above all, it is a university that focuses on people, and at the service of people.”

The international nature of UIC Barcelona is also highlighted, “an open university, where students from all over the world live together. Creative people, capable of learning how to contribute to new solutions. People committed to truth: in life and in all fields of knowledge. Men and women poised to lead the challenges posed by our society.”

The video celebrates 25 years of UIC Barcelona, highlighting that we have come this far thanks to those who believed and continue to believe in the project. In short, 25 years of believing in you.
